Separate shootings in Jackson leave two injured, one man dead

Fourth of July celebrations were interrupted by gun violence in the capital city.  Within minutes, there were two separate shootings in northwest Jackson.

One man is dead,  at least two others hit by gunfire.

Jackson Police are searching for 37-year-old Oslee Brown.  He's wanted for the murder that happened in the 3300 block of Revels Avenue. Officers are looking for four men in connection with the other shootings.

The first call came in just before 2:30 Monday afternoon. It happened on Brown Street where two males were sitting outside an apartment.

"Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to the legs," said Jackson Police Commander Tyree Jones.

One of the victims, hit by gunfire at Northhills Apartments, ran after being shot to Kelly Street. Both were taken to UMMC.

Commander Jones says they are listed in stable condition. Police are now looking for at least 4 males wanted in this drive by shooting.

"Both victims were sitting outside an apartment building at this location when a small white vehicle, possibly a KIA Sephia, occupied by approximately four men drove by and opened fire on these individuals," said Commander Jones.

Officers recovered at least 18 shell casings. One car, in the line of fire, was heavily damaged by the bullets.

The next call came in from Revels Avenue. Commander Jones says 31-year-old Quinten Lynn was shot multiple times following an altercation with 37-year-old Oslee Brown.

"Mr. Brown came to this location and he and the victim had contact with one another, not physical contact, but he apparently fired an assault rifle and struck the victim multiple times," added Jones. "Right now we don't know what the altercation was about."

Brown is now wanted for murder.  Lynn's death is the 33rd homicide in Jackson so far this year.
