One man is behind bars and more than $35,000 worth of illegal drugs are now off the streets of Jackson.

Jackson Police Narcotics and DART teams underwent a special operation that resulted in the arrest of 37-year-old Zedric Marshall.

The special teams made a traffic stop that led to a warrant being executed at Marshall's home, located in the 4200 block of Willow Run Drive in Jackson.

Police discovered nine pounds of high grade marijuana, with a street value of more than $35,000, as well as two handguns and $36,000 in cash.

Jackson Police Commander Tyree Jones says they are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, but right now Marshall is facing charges.

Here is what Commander Jones had to say, "Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, as well as two firearms".

"This is a good day for the Jackson Police Department. It shows the hard work and hard dedication between individuals involved in this operation, as well as those dedicated to serving and protecting." Jones added.

Marshall does have prior arrests.

Commander Jones said police are working on retrieving information to determine if Marshall has a lengthy criminal history.
