A 39-year-old woman was shot once in the chest and once in the arm Tuesday evening and is listed in critical condition at UMMC.
Tajuana Denson was taken to the hospital by private vehicle and the police responded to UMMC just before 6 p.m.
Police have discovered that the shooting happened at 6739 Presidential Drive where there was an argument and fight between several females, children and adults, ages ranging from 13-39.
Police say a 13-year-old boy who lives at the home, but was not involved in the initial altercation, got a handgun and fired several shots, two of them hitting Denson.
Police have confirmed that Denson does not live at the home.
The 13-year-old was held for questioning, but later released.
No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing, and the outcome will be forwarded to the Hinds County Grand Jury to be presented.
