While state lawmakers are not in session, another group is taking advantage of the State Capitol this summer.
Participants in the "Summer Slim Down" bootcamp meet several mornings and nights on the steps of the Capitol.
Exercising outside can be dangerous in the summer heat and humidity. Fitness instructor Ebony Cooper says she advises her clients to take precautions to stay healthy.
"Stay hydrated that's the biggest thing," said Summer Slim down participant Rena Smith Wansley. "Stay hydrated, really try to get out early in the mornings, the sun can be a killer and can drain you so the earlier you can get out the better it boosts your energy throughout the day."
To stay hydrated you should try to drink water every 15 minutes even if you're not thirsty.
