Surviellance video captured a man and two women trying to break into a South Jackson tobacco store.

The video shows the trio using extreme force to try and break in. The three used a sledgehammer to try to gain entry and they even used hedge clippers to cut the wires to the surveillance system, but they were unsuccessful.

The incident happened around 2:00 a.m. at Dadlani's discount tobacco and liquor store.

"His son fired shots in the air to scare them but it looks like nothing happened," said owner Gorbin Dadlani, "They were still doing their best to get into the building,"

The surveillance video shows the trio standing on a suitcase filled with tools like hedge clippers to cut the wire to surveillance cameras.  Once that didn't work, the man started using a sledgehammer to make his way in.

"The main thing was if they can cut the cord and all the cameras, the system will be down," added Dadlani.  "And at the same time my alarm system will go off phone, internet completely dead and they will have access to anything they want.

The attempted robbers did all of this in a time span of more than 20 minutes.

"Well because they had a lot time in hand, because the bridge has been out so there's no traffic going around," explained Dadlani. "And that maybe gives them more advantage so they can take their sweet time and do whatever they want to do,"

Dadlani's neighbor called 911 after hearing the sledgehammer. Once police arrived the trio took off. The business has been hit multiple times before, but Dadlani says he's not leaving.

"They not going to run me out," he stressed. "I'm going to decide when to leave when I feel like it."
