Wednesday night we will hear the names of the winners in the first round of preliminary competition at the Miss Mississippi Pageant.  We talk with three contestants who were runners up to the reigning Miss Mississippi.

The announcement of Miss Mississippi 2016 has taken many months to get to the Miss Mississippi stage. Laura Lee Lewis, Miss Dixie, is from Brookhaven. She is a former Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen. This is her fourth year to compete.

Lewis was second runner up in 2015 and a preliminary swimwear winner. Wednesday night she competes in talent.

"It is Piece of Sky by Barbra Streisand," said Lewis. "It's a difficult song but I just love the emotion and the feeling that you get when you sing This Piece of Sky."

Ivey Swan, Miss Leaf River Valley was third runner up and also a preliminary swimwear winner last year. The Ole Miss Grad will compete in talent Thursday night.

"it's an incredible feeling. Last year was the first year for me to make Top 10 and coming back last year that was really my goal," said Swan."That's what I wanted to do, I wanted to perform on statewide television."

Meredith Thomas was the fourth runner up to Hannah Roberts. Miss Mississippi State University who is from Kosciusko is back for a third year. She plays piano Wednesday night.

"I will be playing Great Balls of Fire which is typically, people know it for Jerry Lee Lewis," said Thomas.
