Man steals chicken, apple pies from fast food restaurant overnight

Jackson police are investigating a business burglary that happened Tuesday morning at the Church's Chicken on West Woodrow Wilson Avenue.

Commander Tyree Jones said around 4 a.m., a witness saw a man break into the a storage building behind Church's Chicken on W. Woodrow Wilson. He rode away on his bike with boxes of frozen chicken. According to the Church's Chicken manager, he also made off with some fried apple pies.

The man, later identified as 67-year-old Cliff Hayes, was taken into custody near the intersection of Vardaman and Bailey Avenue.  

Some of the chicken was recovered and fried apple pies were left behind by the burglar. 

Hayes was charged with business burglary.  He has an extensive criminal record.
