Two men in custody after police chase in Brandon

BRANDON, MS (WLBT) -

Two men are in custody after an early morning police chase in Brandon.

According to Brandon Police Department's Assistant Police Chief Chris Butts, Jerry Donovan Green of Fort Worth, Texas, and John Martinez of Hutchins, Texas, are charged with failure to yield to blue lights, possession of paraphernalia, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance. Green is charged with aggravated assault by another jurisdiction.

Both are being held in Rankin County Jail, without bond, and are appearing in municipal court on Monday afternoon.

According to Butts, Brandon Police pulled the two over on I-20 around 1:30 a.m. Martinez got out of the car and stayed behind with police while Green drove off and was chased into Pelahatchie near Highway 43.

During the chase, Green hit a Pelahatchie Police car.

The chase ended on Highway 43, near Reagan Road, where Green pulled over and was taken into custody. Authorities found crystal meth, heroin and about $1500 inside the car.  

No one was injured during the chase.
