BRANDON, MS (WLBT) -

A Rankin County teen is recovering after being stabbed multiple times by another teen in Rankin County. According to the victim's family, this all happened during a fight over a girl.

On Saturday night at 11 p.m., the Rankin County Sheriff's Office responded to Riverchase Drive in Brandon, after a caller said that a 17-year-old boy had been stabbed by another 17-year-old. According to witnesses, this all happened at the victim's house where he was having a group of people over.

17-year-old Cale Evan Reaves was called by a girl at the home to come and pick her up.

When Reaves got to the house, he started fighting with the victim in the street. Investigators say Reaves then pulled out a knife and cut and stabbed the victim several times.

The victim's father broke up the fight and took his son to the hospital for medical attention.

Deputies found Reaves during a traffic stop and arrested him. He is being held in the Rankin County Jail, without bond, and is expected to be in court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday for his initial hearing.

He has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and will be tried as an adult.
