Police say a Tupelo Police officer shot and killed a man, who fought and injured the officer and his police dog, after being chased and hiding under a house.
It's the second weekend in a row that Tupelo police have fatally shot someone.
Coroner Carolyn Green identified the man shot Saturday night as 37-year-old Antwun Shumpert.
Police told news media that Shumpert ran from his car after a traffic stop and was tracked to his hiding place.
Deputy Chief Allan Gilbert said the case has been turned over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities say that last Saturday, 27-year-old Lyndarius Cortez Witherspoon was shot after shooting at police during a chase.
