Richland police catch suspect after chase

RICHLAND, MS (WLBT) -

Richland Police apprehended a man after a Friday afternoon chase.

Allison Clark, the Public Information Officer for the Richland Police Department, says it all happened around 4 p.m. when 37-year-old Jesse James Harrison was being pulled over for a stolen license plate on Highway 49.

Harrison took off and was finally stopped on Speights Road in Rankin County, where he ran into the woods.

Officials say a K-9 tracked him down and Harrison was bitten on the upper arm and crouch area.

Police say he had three outstanding warrants, one in Pearl and two in Hinds County, for possession of meth and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities say Harrison is now charged with felony fleeing and eluding, driving without a license, no insurance, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and having a switched tag.
