MERIDIAN, MS (WLBT) -

Police are investigating a tragic case out of Meridian where a child was shot twice in the head. She's been identified as 6-year-old Kemiyah Jimison and she is in critical condition at a Jackson hospital.

Her family says it has been praying non-stop for her recovery.

Family members told WTOK they are relying on their faith to pull them through his tragedy.

"Right now she is responding. That's a big step," said family member Katricia Moore. "I just ask everyone to continue to pray so she can continue to move forward. But I know that God is with us."

Moore says KeMiyah recently graduated from kindergarten. Her family asks for continued prayer for her recovery.

Police have released a photo of a possible suspect in the shooting of the child. The suspect is identified as Cordarius Deandre Stinner.

MPD said the child was shot twice in the head at around 11:40 am at 45th Avenue and 3rd Street as two men argued nearby.

Witnesses said someone fired several shots and then left the scene. KiMiyah was rushed to a local hospital and then to Jackson.

If you have any information about Stinner that might help investigators, call East Mississippi Crimestoppers at 855-485-tips.
