JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -

American Red Cross volunteers are on the ground in Orlando helping in the aftermath of the mass shooting last weekend.

In addition to providing mental health services in Orlando, the organization has some suggestions for anyone coping with the killings.

Officials suggest limiting how much you're hearing about the attacks on the news. Limiting exposure is especially important for children. Also, talk to children about their fears and comfort them about their safety.

Right now the organization is not accepting financial donations specifically for Orlando, but donors are still encouraging you to lend monetary support.

"The American Red Cross does not have a specific designation for this emergency, we do encourage the viewers to donate to the American Red Cross by visiting www.redcross.org to help us support the disasters that we respond to all throughout the country," says Anna Rogers, the Director of Communications for the American Red Cross Mississippi Region.

The Red Cross will help out in Orlando as long as their services are needed.
