Jackson police are investigating the stabbing of a man overnight.

On Wednesday, at 12:52 a.m., Jackson police responded to UPS on McDowell Rd. regarding the stabbing.

When officers’ arrived, they learned that a man had been stabbed multiple times in the upper and lower torso. He was taken to UMMC for medical treatment and is in stable condition.

During the investigation, it was learned that the victim went to the bus station on Capitol Street to find a ride.

A man with blonde hair was said to be driving a tan Ford Explorer when he picked the victim up near the bus station. The driver reportedly became upset with the victim over payment for the ride, and stabbed him several times with a knife.

As they approached East McDowell Road, the suspect threw the victim out of the car and left.

Police believe the Explorer was damaged as it was leaving the property.
