Jake Rogers hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to lead Tulane over Mississippi 6-5 in an elimination game of the NCAA tournament's Oxford Regional on Saturday.
Tulane (40-20) trailed 5-4 going into the ninth, but Stephen Alemais drew a one-out walk and then Rogers drove the ball over the left-field fence for the game's decisive hit. Corey Merrill earned the win on the mound, giving up one run in three innings of relief.
Ole Miss (43-19), the regional's top seed, lost two straight games to end its NCAA tournament. Will Stokes took the loss, giving up two earned runs in two innings of relief.
Tulane's Hunter Williams led the Green Wave offense early in the game with two solo homers. Colby Bortles and Kyle Watson had solo homers for Ole Miss.
