A body has been found in Newton.

Chief Harvey Curry has confirmed with our sister station, WTOK, that a man's body was discovered by authorities last night.

Around 11:30 officers from the Newton Police Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Newton County's coroner and officials from Lifecare Ambulance were at the scene of the discovery.

It was made outside the Newton Junction Shell Station.

At this time Chief Harvey Curry says the identity of the man has not been confirmed.

He says the man's body has been sent to the state crime lab in Jackson to be examined. According to the chief, the man's identity could be released later today.

At this time Chief Curry says the search for a missing truck driver from Georgia is still ongoing. Family members say Tommie Wilson has been missing since May 25. 

Previously, authorities said that foul play was not suspected in his case.

Wilson's 18-wheeler was discovered Monday at the Newton Junction Truck Stop in Newton.
