CONSIDER THIS: Election Reform

Mississippi still has the opportunity to improve our election process if the state legislature passes new guidelines. As we see with many new ideas, the final version of the legislation has been stripped of some of the original proposed improvements, but the potential changes that are still alive are a step in the right direction.

Consider This:  Voting is one of our most important rights and making that process less burdensome is a good thing.

Online registration will make it much easier for people to register to vote and change their registry if they move. Unfortunately, a plan to offer early voting 14 days before an election doesn’t seem like it will make the cut this year, but that is something that should be added next year.

Again, that will improve convenience so more people will vote. Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann has pushed these improvements and he deserves much of the credit for creating a more progressive Mississippi.
