RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) -

Rumors about the possibility of Costco coming to Ridgeland have now been confirmed to be more than rumors.

Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee spoke with the Renaissance Phase Three developer Wednesday morning.

The developer told the mayor he is trying to bring Costco to the city.

The store would be built on Highland Colony Parkway, near Renaissance.

it will take up a portion of land along the Parkway between the Natchez Trace bridge and the Church of the Highlands.

Mayor McGee will meet with residents about the property at Ridgeland High School Wednesday, August 12th at 6:00 P.M. The mayor says the developer can meet with the community next week.

“I've actually asked him to set up a subsequent meeting next Thursday night the 20th of August at the same place Ridgeland High School to talk about what his plans are for the area,” says Mayor McGee.

Mayor McGee says the developer controls what business moves onto the Renaissance Phase Three land.

He says it's the city's job to make sure zoning qualifications are met.
