PEARL, MS (WLBT) -

A manhunt is still underway for the suspect involved in a chase with police this morning. Pearl Police have identified Christopher John Gladney as the only person involved in a chase that ended when he crashed and then fled the police on foot.

Gladney is from the Jackson area and has no means of communication on him.

Police warn to use caution, Gladney has been arrested for armed robbery and carjacking.

The chase started in Mendenhall around 4:00 Friday morning.  A white pickup truck was pulled over during a traffic stop.  A passenger was taken into custody and the driver drove off.  Multiple agencies chased the truck through several cities before it crashed near Interstate 20 and Pearson Rd. in Pearl.

Police say they fired shots at the man before he ran into the woods.

The I 20 east ramp at Pearson Road was closed for a few hours while police searched the area for the suspect.

Pearl police have aggravated assault and felony fleeing charges on Gladney.

Linda Silence says Gladney made a pit stop in her storage room while on the run, helping himself to cans of fruit for breakfast.

Silence said, "I hope they catch him, it gives you a very uneasy felling to know theres somebody out there and he's running and he's desperate and he wants to escape and he wants to get away."
