During his State of the City address, Jackson Mayor Tony Yarber highlighted many of the positives that the city has seen; new jobs, a decrease in crime, and more visitors to the city.

But he also acknowledged the bad; the need for more street repair and the constant issues with the city's infrastructure.

"For as many water main breaks as we see, they are repairing and fixing and putting in new water pipes over the city that's not being seen," said Yarber.

They mayor also talked money. He said the city is in a 15 million dollar deficient, and to overcome that, the  city will turn to Prioritized budgeting.

"We've made our departments all go back and create like a ratings system where they have had to rate all of their programs and make determinations on which programs have been productive and which have not and we fund from there," said the Mayor.

Those cuts will likely mean cuts to city programs and even increases in city fees; but those in attendance say they support the mayor and his vision.

Here is the complete text of the mayor's speech.
