FLOWOOD, MS (WLBT) -

Some major roadwork to help accommodate the growing number of people traveling through Flowood is nearly complete. MDOT officials say the five mile construction project along Flowood Drive should be wrapped up by mid-October.

The work is happening between Fourth Street and Airport Road. Crews are adding one lane of traffic in both directions along Flowood Drive, plus a center turn lane.

“This added infrastructure is really going to help traffic flow and it will really improve traffic flow for those travelers throughout the area,” said MDOT Spokesperson Michael Flood.

MDOT officials want to remind drivers to drive cautiously and pay close attention to workers in all work zones.
