It's kick-off time for the 2016 St. Jude Dream Home. Ground has been broken on a one-acre lot in the Indian Creek Subdivision in Flowood.
The 100-thousand dollar piece of property was donated by Lakeland Development.
"We were on board from the first conversation," said Robert Blackmon of Lakeland Development. "Lots back here are going for 80,000 to $100,000 but it wasn't a matters of money to us to be affiliated and give St. Jude a great home this year for the project, It was an easy decision."
Brian Burkley with Deep South Custom Homes is building the home for the seventh year in a row. He says the amount of property space gives him a lot of architectural freedom with construction.
"The plan is 3,250 square feet, four bedrooms, three and a half baths and architecturally, I think it's going to trump out the last seven that we've done," said Burkley. "It's such an honor to be in Flowood and to be representing such an awesome cause with St. Jude."
