JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A candlelight vigil was held on Wednesday to honor the life of a Jackson gospel singer.

36-year-old Murphy Wilson was found dead in his home after a house fire last week.

Organizers of the vigil say the outpouring of love and support shows that he was a loving spirit whose life was gone too soon.

The vigil took place outside of Wilson's home on East Drive.

"To be absent with the body is to be present with The Lord. I pray for his family but I also pray for he person responsible because as a Christian you have to walk in that light and I don't think the person Murphy was would want us to angry or bitter. He'd want us to settle with this," says friend, Cynthia Allen.

There are still limited details surrounding Wilson's death.

His autopsy is still pending at this time but his family and friends say they are just trying to remain positive.
