Victim's brother suspects foul play, offers reward

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - No official cause of death has been released for the Jackson gospel singer who died last week after a house fire, but his brother believes he was murdered.

Fire crews found 36-year-old Murphy Wilson dead in a home on East Drive Wednesday night after extinguishing the blaze.

The cause of that fire remains under investigation.

Police said Wilson's vehicle was missing from the scene.

Edward Wilson wrote on Facebook that he's offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information on who killed his brother.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said final autopsy results could come back as early as Tuesday.

David Atkins, Wilson's friend and fellow Mississippi Mass Choir member, told WLBT last week that nothing about Wilson's death made sense to him.

Wilson's funeral service will be held Jan. 24 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Terry, according to Atkins.

The service starts at 11 a.m.
