COPIAH COUNTY, MS (WLBT) -

Scary moments for one homeowner in Copiah County Saturday afternoon as a pasture fire raged out of control.

The fire happened not far from Terry, just off Dear Road.

Volunteer firefighters worked several hours to extinguish the flames over about ten acres of pasture there.

Several homes were located nearby, meaning those fire crews had to work very quickly to get that fire out.

Part of their strategy: building a fire line around the blaze to contain it before it could spread.

James Barnes: "First units on the scene found about ten acres burning. They went ahead and attacked the fire. The winds shifted and pushed it into the woods, so they called. Had several structures in danger so they called for additional backup."

Chief Barnes says no structures were damaged and no one was injured in this blaze.

The cause of that fire has not been determined.

It remains under investigation.
