JACKSON (JSUTigers.com) – Zechariah Ray and six other of Jackson State's newest football players reported for class earlier this week, eager to start their collegiate careers as Jackson State Tigers.
JSU's January enrollees include offensive lineman Ray (6-7, 325, Yazoo City, Miss.), offensive lineman Kenneth Tyler (6-4, 335, Vicksburg, Miss.), offensive lineman Alem Amores (6-2, 290, Oakland, Calif.), offensive lineman Vincent Hunter (6-4, 324, Memphis, Tenn.), quarterback Jarin Morikawa (6-0, 190, Mililani, Hi), linebacker Justin Morgan (6-4, 235, Senatobia, Miss.) and defensive back Zavian Bingham (5-10, 185, Summit, Miss.).
Four of the seven January enrollees are offensive linemen and four are from the state of Mississippi. JSU added to its talent pool on the offensive line, which was an area of concern for head coach Harold Jackson during the 2014 season.
“We really wanted to add depth to both the offensive and defensive lines,” said Jackson. “I like what we have done so far along the offensive line, but we are still working to get the depth that I want on the defensive line. We will continue working on that area as we continue through the recruiting process.”
