Three Mississippi players nominated for 2015 McDonalds All-American Games

JACKSON (WLBT) - Being a McDonald's All-American is one of the highest honors in high school basketball. Malik Newman, Terence Davis, & Trista Magee have been nominated for the 2015 games.

Malik Newman has added his name to the lineage of JPS basketball legends. The Callaway guard dropped 90 points in the final day of the JPS Tournament. He has helped the Chargers win three straight 5A state championships. Newman is on the recruiting radar of Kentucky, Kansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State to name a few.

Terence Davis signed with Ole Miss in the early signing period. The future Rebel has shined for Southaven. As a junior, he averaged 21 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals per game.

Trista Magee is the only girls basketball player from the Magnolia State to be nominated. She signed with Alabama in the early signing period. The Presbyterian Christian guard was the 2014 MAIS Player of the Year. Like Davis & Newman, she was a 2014-15 Dandy Dozen selection.

The field of nominees will be trimmed down to 24 boys and 24 girls. The final teams will be revealed January 28th at 5:00pm. You can watch the McDonald's All-American Games Selection Show on ESPNU.
