The family of Carolyn Temple is reacting tonight to the arrests of the three teens charged in her death.

The suspects are being held in the city jail tonight. Tress Gardner, Carolyn's daughter, says she hopes other families won't have to suffer like hers has.

"Nothing I say right now is going to bring my mother back...but I want to know why. Why not just steal from her? Why kill her?"

Emotions are still high for Gardner as she reacts to the recent string of events surrounding the death of her mother, 69-year-old Carolyn Temple.

"She was able to tell us that they were pulling on her purse and she pulled back and from that point on it kind of became a blur to her I think."

Jackson Police arrested Antreal Jones and Jerome Moore Tuesday after their alleged involvement in other violent crimes in the Capitol City, including at least four carjackings.

A third suspect Antwain Dukes turned himself into police Wednesday morning.

Gardner says "I didn't expect to see people that look like babies to me. I want them punished for what they did. I think they need to suffer the consequences."

Jerome Moore's mother took her son's defense.

"I know for a fact where he was. He was not involved in that murder," Sharonda Burns told our cameras. "My son ain't gonna shoot no gun. Now I ain't saying he won't rob nobody but I know he won't shoot no gun. He not gonna shoot nobody."

Gardner says she's pleased with the arrests made and wants justice for her mother.

She said with the recent string of carjackings there is a lesson to be learned from all of this.

"Be aware, and to value even every second because, you know, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be making funeral arrangements for my mother today."
