Dak Prescott will return for senior season at Mississippi State

STARKVILLE (WLBT) - The deadline to enter the NFL Draft is Thursday. On Wednesday, Dak Prescott declared that he's staying at Mississippi State for his senior season.

The Conerly Trophy winner held a press conference on campus. Prescott said "I've had this decision, what I've wanted to do, kinda in my gut probably after the Egg Bowl. And definitely after the bowl game. It's just been some things I feel that I want to get better at. Get better in every aspect of the quarterback position. My feet, pocket awareness, being more consistent overall as a quarterback and as a leader."

He also felt the way the Bulldogs campaign ended was also a factor. "Not exactly finishing the way we wanted to finish, it had a big part in my decision. Going 1-3 in the last 4 games, I wouldn't want to finish a career at such a great place and leave on a note like that. Not to mention that we don't have the Golden Egg, the most special trophy in the state. I want to make sure that it returns home where it belongs."

Prescott broke 10 school records in the 2014 season. He had 4470 yards and 42 total touchdowns as the Bulldogs finished 10 and 3. The Louisiana native was one of three MSU players to earn All-American honors. He was a finalist for the Davey O'Brien, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, and the Manning Award. Prescott finished 8th in the Heisman Trophy race.
