On Tuesday evening parents and the community are invited to Mississippi College in Clinton to get all of their charter school questions answered.

The Mississippi Charter School Association and Mississippi First will host a charter school forum in Swor Auditorium in Nelson Hall between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Organizers say the forum will help parents understand what charter schools are, how they operate, and how charter schools will affect Mississippi's public school students.

So far two charter schools have been approved to open in August 2015 in Jackson.

The first charter school approved is called Reimagine Prep. The school will be located in South Jackson at Terry and McDowell Roads in an old school building.

The second and most recently approved charter school is called Midtown Jackson.

Midtown Jackson will open in the city's Midtown neighborhood.

Charter schools are public schools required to follow the same benchmarks as traditional public schools, but they provide smaller classes and allow educators to be more innovative in the classroom.

To learn more about enrollment at Reimagine Prep you can click on the school's website or call 601-941-0844. For more information on Midtown Jackson call 601-354-5373.
