JULIA'S FORECAST: Chilly blast of arctic air moving in!

Are you ready for some frigid feeling temperatures? Now is the time to prepare! Make sure the heater is working, check the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and take the necessary precautions to protect your outdoor plants. By the middle of the work week we'll have some of the coldest air we've experienced this season.

Today will have a bitter feel to it with highs only in the mid 40s. A light breeze out of the north/northeast will make it feel more like low 40s for a high.  Stubborn high clouds will give way to sunshine through the afternoon though, at least making for prettier looking conditions. With clearer skies and lighter winds tonight the temperatures will easily fall into the mid 20s.

Tuesday actually won't be as frigid! We have a brief break from the cold feel as highs rise up to seasonable levels in the mid and high 50s! We'll have abundant sun. This will easily be the most comfortable day of the work week.

The frozen air will start to settle in on Wednesday. Although we'll have sun, the high will only reach near 40, meaning much of the day will be spent in the 30s. Wednesday night and early Thursday morning will likely feature a hard freeze across the state with temperatures in the teens. A light breeze will drop the "feels like" temp into the single digits!!!

Thursday afternoon will be sub-freezing for much of the day with highs only in the low 30s. We'll be slightly better in the low 40s on Friday. No precipitation is expected during the work week.
