Officials at UMMC said 4-year-old Helena White, who was involved in an auto accident on December 28, is improving.

Dustin Barnes, a spokesman for UMMC said Helena is now in good condition.

Around 4 p.m. December 28, the Rankin County Sheriff's Department received a report of a one vehicle accident in the 1100 block of Star Road near Brandon. The caller stated the vehicle overturned in the water and that a child was trapped inside.

Rankin County Deputies, Robinhood Fire Department, Rankin EOC and AMR responded to the scene.

Before first responders arrived on scene, residents from across the street and a passerby jumped into the water lifted the car far enough out of the water where Helena could be cut free of the child restraint.

We will continue to follow little Helena's road to recovery.
