JULIA'S FORECAST: Some Storms Today, More Likely Tuesday

Good morning! We're down to the wire on the last few days of Christmas shopping, and unfortunately we'll have some active weather to deal with.

As far as our Monday is concerned, we're expecting spotty showers through the day. Once we reach the afternoon there is a possibility for some strong to even severe thunderstorms. This looks to be fairly isolated. Severe activity is slightly more likely for areas south of I-20 and east of I-55 this afternoon and evening, but a strong to severe storm can't be ruled out anywhere on the Mississippi map. Otherwise, the day will be cloudy and damp with a mild-feeling high in the mid to high 60s.

After another seasonably "warm" night in the mid 50s, we'll start off Tuesday cloudy with some showers around. The threat for rain and storms increases into the afternoon. Rain looks much more widespread for Tuesday. Severe weather is a possibility, including gusty winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. In terms of location, the greatest threat for severe storms will mostly be southeast of the Natchez Trace. We will be monitoring any storms all throughout the day on Tuesday and will keep you updated here and on-air.

Storms end overnight into Wednesday, with just some leftover showers in the morning. Temperatures will be cooler in the low and mid 50s with clouds clearing. Christmas day should be cool and pleasant with sunshine and highs in the low 50s!
