JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -  Toys are great gifts for Christmas, but some families need clothes to get them through the winter.

A non-profit group called Bilingual Works held a clothing giveaway at the Jackson Police Training Academy Saturday. The clothing was donated by Wal Mart, Fred's Store, and New Jerusalem Church.

Bilingual Works also plans to train Jackson Police Officers, and law enforcement and first responders from surrounding jurisdictions, in Spanish. Right now only two JPD Officers are fluent in Spanish.

"The last time there was any Spanish classes at the training academy was over 14 years ago, and we had the opportunity to meet with Clem Cooper and Enrique Diaz. They offered us an opportunity to come out once a month starting in January," says JPD Commander Herman Horton.
