JULIA'S FORECAST: Scattered Showers Today, Washout Tomorrow

The clouds have thickened up and rain is moving in! Don't expect a total washout today though, just occasional showers. Still, all the cloud cover and any rain will keep things on the cool side. Highs today will be in the mid 50s, a few degrees lower than the average high for this time of year.

In terms of rain timing, the showers will mostly be north of I-20 during the morning. By midday, that rain sinks over central Mississippi and the Jackson metro region. By later afternoon, rain will mostly be south of I-20. Most can expect about a tenth to a quarter of an inch of new rainfall.

Rain stays mostly to the south during the overnight, but lifts up through central Mississippi again through the day on Friday. This time we are expecting a washout of a day. Rain will be widespread and heavy at times, with the potential for localized flash flooding. Keep an eye on alerts! We of course will be updating you right here and on-air.

Rain exits early Saturday morning and the weekend turns out to be a quiet and cool one! Highs will be in the mid to high 50s.
