Court hearing held for couple found with meth and child in car


The Rankin County couple busted on a meth charge were denied bond in court, Tuesday morning, so they'll remain behind bars.

During a Saturday night traffic stop, police found more than 80 grams of meth in the vehicle of 37-year-old Thomas Allen and 30-year-old Tracie Michele Burt, both of Brandon.

The couple was arrested after being pulled over in the 700 block of MS Highway 468 around 9 PM.

Burt's five-month-old baby was also in the car at the time.

Both are being charged with possession of more than 30 grams of Meth, five counts of misdemeanor possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child endangerment.

The street value of the meth is approximately $8,000.

Allen will face additional charges of DUI, DUI-child endangerment, careless driving, resisting arrest, open container, disorderly conduct, and tampering with evidence.

Burt will also face additional charges of open container, child neglect, disorderly conduct, and introducing contraband into a correctional facility.

The couple's next court appearance is set for next Tuesday morning.
