UPDATE: Most retirees should now have December direct deposit benefits
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -
Officials say most direct deposit retirees and benefit recipients of the Public Employees' Retirement System of Mississippi should have received their December payment by Tuesday morning. They go on to say that, due to bank processing, there are a few people who will not see funds until later in the day.
December direct deposits for benefits were delayed from posting Monday, December 1, due to a processing error by PERS staff. Paper check benefits were mailed, as usual.
“We anticipate all deposits posting by the end of the business day,” said PERS Executive Director Pat Robertson. “We appreciate the understanding of our retirees and beneficiaries as we work to resolve this situation, and we will work to ensure this does not ever happen again.”
PERS asks that benefit recipients who incurred bank fees due to the delayed deposit contact PERS at either 800.444.7377 or 601.359.3589 and ask for the Benefits Payments Division.
