JACKSON (WLBT & JSUTigers.com) - Jackson State head football coach Harold Jackson announced today that running backs coach Destry Wright will not return next season.

Wright was one of the top running backs in JSU history, rushing for 4,020 yards in 3 seasons. The Clarksdale native holds three single-game rushing records: 252 yards vs. Alabama State (1998), 212 yards vs. Alabama State (1999) and 211 yards vs. Alabama A&M (1998). Before joining Jackson's staff, Wright worked in the JSU compliance office.

The Tigers struggled in the running game in 2014. JSU was ranked last in the SWAC in rushing yards (1,227) and rushing touchdowns (11)

It's the second change Jackson has made to his staff after a 5-7 season. The high note for the Tigers was finishing the campaign with back-to-back wins, including a 34-31 comeback victory over Alcorn State.
