Black Friday is in full swing in the metro area

Clear skies and cool on this Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

Black Friday, the unofficial shopping holiday, is in full-swing, even though most retailers opened Thanksgiving night.

Plus, Jackson police have confirmed that 21-year-old Antrone Coleman has turned himself in to face charges in a Thanksgiving morning homicide.

And, Mississippi's attorney general has filed a formal notice of appeal of federal judge's ruling that overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriage.

Also, funeral services for Dr. Aaron Shirley, who passed away Wednesday at age 81, are set for Saturday morning at 11 at UMC Conference Center at the Jackson Medical Mall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to the Dr. Aaron Shirley Foundation through the Jackson Medical Mall.

In sports, former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, who has been suspended from the league since early September for hitting his then-fiancee in a hotel elevator, won his appeal for reinstatement Friday.
