JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -
Some Black Friday shoppers have a system. They know where to shop, and when, to get the best deals.
"Yes I do. Banana Republic, I know Osh Kosh, I have a 7 year old son, and I definitely know Nike Outlet has the sales," says Juanita Staten, who is visiting Mississippi from Houston, Texas and shopping at the Outlets of Mississippi.
We ran into Nelda Stewart outside Belk at Dogwood Festival Market. She says there are certain deals she's looking for. "Romance cologne and a shawl to stay warm this winter," she tells us.
Judging from the packed parking lots at Dogwood Festival Market just before noon Friday, it does not appear that Black Friday has been outdone by the doorbuster specials now offered on Thanksgiving Day. People still flock in from all over.
Cindy Smithers, her daughter Briley, and Cindy's four sisters drive up from Bogue Chitto to hit the stores by 5am every Black Friday. It's a tradition.
"We come here and shop and spend the day together. And spend a lot of money," she tells us.
If Black Friday gets edged this year, it will be Cyber Monday doing the job. And some shoppers we talked to like the lure of shopping from home.
"I am going to shop on Cyber Monday. Because I think it's better. No lines, and I think you get a better discount," says Tiffany McHughes, who is shopping at the Outlets of Mississippi as she visits from Chicago, Illinois.
