Movie money helps Mission Mississippi

This summer's James Brown movie, "Get on Up," did more than entertain the masses. It also helped pull in $31,600 for Mission Mississippi. Governor Phil Bryant presented the check during a morning press conference.

A goal of Mission Mississippi is healing racial tension. Governor Bryant thought the group deserved the money to help continue uniting different groups of people.

"I love them. they do great work," said Governor Bryant. "So when we had the premiere of Get On Up we sold tickets, raised $31,000 and so this money will go help the mission of Mission Mississippi."

One of Mission Mississippi's projects includes, "Two and Two Restaurant Days," where people of different races or denominational backgrounds get a discount at a local restaurant if they eat together.
