Toy choices might make some kids vulnerable

Posted: Updated:

Researchers examined questionnaires filled out by nine thousand young adults. They were asked about their childhood habits, and the games they used to play -- as well as any abuse they experienced.

Researchers found those who did not have interests in games typically played by their gender were more likely to be physically and sexually abused -- most often by their parents and relatives.

The study out of Harvard finds most of the abused children are heterosexual.

The study was conducted at the Institute of Metabolic Science and is published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
