Family of man brutally beaten offers reward

A reward totaling $13,500 is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of two men responsible for nearly beating a Vicksburg man to death, in Jackson on January 29th.

Surveillance video shows two men attack 61-year-old Fred Louis Jackson of Vicksburg. He was repairing a damaged fence from a previous break-in at the recycling business.

The men, wearing hoodies, sneaked up on Jackson, viciously beat him, then stole cash, checks and other belongings.

Police still need your help in finding these men. The family has hired the Cochran Law Firm and went there for a news conference Thursday morning to announce a $13,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the two men responsible.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis was at that news conference. "We are in support of the Jackson Police Department and the family to make the same appeal for individuals that have any information in regards to this heinous crime, and help us, help this family to get some closure, and assist in getting these people off the street," said Sheriff Lewis.

The daughter of the victim, Shelia Hedrick, also made a plea for information that might lead to the arrest of the men who assaulted her father.

Hedrick said, "I am asking if anybody, who saw anything, to please call Crimestoppers, the Jackson Police Department, sheriff's office, anybody, who knows anything, so these people can be caught."

So now there is a total of $13,500 in reward money available for information leading to an arrest in this case.
