CLINTON, MS (WLBT) -
An under-aged teen was reportedly fleeing Natchez Trace Park Rangers prior to a crash on Norrell Road in Clinton Monday afternoon. Park Ranger Chief Mike Foster confirmed that there was a pursuit involving a park ranger and the driver of a Blue Mustang GT shortly before 4 p.m.
The driver of the Mustang was allegedly speeding on the parkway when a park ranger clocked him. Foster said, once the ranger pulled out to pursue, the speeder promptly exited at the Interstate 20 west ramp.
The same Ford Mustang collided with a school bus near the Norrell Rd., I-20 exit. The bus, which had no children on it, crushed the sports car. According to law enforcement there were no significant injuries and the driver of the bus appeared to be okay.
Foster said since the driver of the Mustang is a minor he will not be identified. The minor was detained at the scene, transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center, then released to his parents.
While he is not in custody Foster said Rangers are consulting with the U.S. Attorney's Office to decide what, if any, charges are necessary.
