Last week was a tragic week. Three local Ole Miss Students died when their car lost control, a ten year old child died after being hit by an 82 year-old man and an 18 year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child died in a collision with a log truck. All these young people's lives were cut short. The families, friends and communities were left with their memories and thoughts of what their lives could have been. It is times like these when we see how really fragile life can be. When we get behind the wheel of our vehicles we should drive defensively, stay focused and not be distracted by cell phones, texting or other diversions that sidetrack our attention. Mississippi drivers rank as some of the worst in the nation, we can do better. Be careful out there and let's make an extra effort to avoid having any more of these tragic weeks.
