Madison County's attorney has launched an investigation into campaign literature sent out in bulk by a candidate for Justice Court. District 4 Justice Court Judge candidate William Featherston sent out a bulk flyer that has raised eyebrows.
The top portion appears official with the wording "judicial election summons." It goes on to state, "You are hereby summoned to appear on November 8, at your local voting precinct and cast your ballot for the candidate of your choice.
Featherston is an attorney and is running as an Independent in the November general election. Justice Court Clerk Susan McCarty says it appears to be an official judicial summons from the Madison County Court.
The Justice Court Clerk says the court does not endorse any candidate and does not sanction this type of campaign literature for any political candidate. The information has also been passed on to the Secretary of States office.
