PEARL, MS (WLBT) - Louisiana authorities have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting a Madison County man and injuring a Rankin County woman, after allegedly fleeing Mississippi.

The shooting happened around midnight when a woman on her way to the hospital called 911. The shots were fired at the Crosswind Apartments in Pearl.

Police Chief Ben Schuler says his department received a call from 33 year-oldCcandice Garnett of Pearl. Garnett told authorities that she had been shot at the apartment and she was not the only victim. When police arrived at the scene they found 38-year-old Robert Lee Lindsey dead.

The Canton man had been shot three times in the chest. Chief Schuler identifies the suspect as 46-year-old Mack Watts Jr., whose last known address was in Flowood.

Watts was stopped by Louisiana state troopers in Deering Plains near Bossier City Saturday. He has been taken into custody. Authorities say they are working on Watts' return to Mississippi for prosecution.
