JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - There were no winners yet through Saturday's action at the Pepsi Fall Junior Tennis Open in Jackson, but there were a lot of young participants.
Over 75 kids -- boys and girls, ages 8 to 18 -- took part in the tournament at Parham Bridges Tennis Center.
The event matches kids from across the South, which Parham Bridges Head Pro, Chris Wootton says is to everyone's advantage.
"What really helps our kids here in Jackson is that they're able to get the influence of the kids coming in from all over, as far as Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, wherever it may be, and our kids get to play those kids and really get to gauge each other," Wootton said.
First and second round singles and doubles were played on Saturday, with semifinals and finals play slated for Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm.
