Anna Tadlock said it took a lot for her to come back to the Miss Mississippi stage after four tries to win the crown.

She said it was a last minute decision that paid off.

When asked what was going through her mind when the announcer named her the new Miss Mississippi Tadlock said, "I think I was screaming out loud and in my head. I think I was screaming out loud and in my head all at the same time. "

Tadlock will spend most of her time in Vicksburg preparing for the Miss America Pageant.

"I think my first order of business over the next month or so is paper work. So I think as far as getting the paperwork done first I think I'm gonna concentrate on that and then worry about the rest later. But I'm ready to get started," Tadlock added.

The new Miss Mississippi is an only child. She says she is family oriented.

"I know my parents are gonna look forward to helping me get ready this year," Tadlock said.

Tadlock made the top 10 last year, but did not place. This year she says going all the way is a dream come true.

"I just, I can't believe I just topped it all off by being Miss Mississippi. I'm so excited," Tadlock added.

The new Miss Mississippi wins more than $10,000 in scholarship money.
