Miss Mississippi 2009 will be crowned in a few hours at the Vicksburg Convention center.
This week there have been eight winners in the preliminary competition. We're taking a look at those winners as everyone is trying to figure out who will make the top 10. The hosts for the pageant, former Miss Mississippi Taryn Foshee and Michael Young will announce the top 10 finalists shortly after the pageant begins.
For the last three days contestants have competed in the preliminary competition. Friday night there was a tie in talent. Rachael Shannon Miss Deep South and Anna Tadlock, Miss New South were the winners.
"That's a song that I actually sang on this stage two years ago and when I was deciding to come back this year I pulled it out and said I wanted to do it again," said Tadlock.
"My main goal for the past four years that I've competed was to win a talent prelim and it's finally happened and so hard work definitely pays off," said Shannon.
In swimwear, Danielle Smith, Miss Heartland was the winner. She was second runner up to Miss Mississippi in 2008 and fourth runner up in 2007.
"Well actually this summer I did my internship at Oktibbeha County Hospital so I lived at a gym. I was there for six hours a day, so I did every aerobics class, worked out in the pool," said Smith.
Thursday night there was a tie in swimwear. Miss Hattiesburg, Mary Brandon Norman, and Miss New South, Anna Tadlock. In talent the winner was Miss North Central Mississippi, Caitlyn Smith.
Wednesday night the talent winner was Miss Metro Jackson, Katherine Barkett, and in swimwear, Diana Strickland, Miss Riverland.
Last night's winners say the preliminary wins are a big boost for confidence and an honor, but no guarantee.
"I feel really special, I feel really honored, but again there's a lot of really talented girls on this stage."
"I want to go in and enjoy it, this is my last time on this stage unless I win I'll be back next year."
"Dreams coming true right now, every minute, I mean wow! I can't believe this," Smith added.
